Vancomycin 1Gm Add/Van is an antibiotic commonly utilized in the treatment of serious bacterial infections caused by gram-positive organisms. It is particularly effective against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea when oral formulations are unsuitable.

The mechanism of action of vancomycin involves inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. By binding to precursors of the bacterial cell wall, vancomycin disrupts its construction, resulting in bacterial cell death.
