Stratafix Symmetric PDS Plus Violet Suture, Size 1, 18", with OS-6 Needle is a sterile, absorbable, antibacterial barbed monofilament suture. It is composed of polydioxanone and coated with the antibacterial agent triclosan (Irgacare MP) to reduce the risk of bacterial colonization on the suture surface. 

This suture features a symmetric barbed design that allows for even distribution of tension across the wound, promoting consistent approximation of tissue without the need for knots. The barbs are oriented bidirectionally, enhancing secure tissue holding and minimizing slippage. The elimination of knots contributes to improved efficiency and reduced foreign body mass at the wound site.

With controlled absorption, Stratafix Symmetric PDS Plus maintains 50% of its original tensile strength at approximately four weeks post-implantation. Full absorption typically occurs within 182 to 238 days via hydrolysis. The extended strength retention period is suitable for procedures where prolonged support of healing tissues is necessary.
