Description
Ethilon Monofilament Suture, Black, 30", Size 3/0, KS Needle is a nonabsorbable sterile surgical suture composed of long-chain aliphatic polyamides, commonly referred to as nylon. The monofilament structure provides smooth passage through tissue and minimizes tissue drag during suturing. The suture is dyed black for enhanced visibility during placement and removal.
Ethilon is indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation. The KS needle, a conventional cutting type, features a straight design that facilitates precision in superficial wound closure, particularly in skin and plastic surgery applications. The needle and suture combination ensures reliable handling and suture performance.
The suture elicits only a minimal acute inflammatory reaction in tissue, followed by a gradual encapsulation by fibrous connective tissue. Due to its synthetic polyamide composition, it exhibits high tensile strength retention with a very slow degradation profile, taking up to one to two years to completely degrade if not removed.
