Description

Coated Vicryl Rapide Suture is an absorbable braided suture designed for rapid absorption in soft tissue approximation and ligation. It is composed of a synthetic polymer that provides initial tensile strength comparable to Nylon and Gut sutures, ensuring reliable wound support during the critical early healing phase. 

The suture is coated to enhance smooth passage through tissue, minimizing trauma and improving handling characteristics during surgical procedures. Its undyed, natural appearance is suited for cases where visibility of the suture material is less critical. The taper point needle facilitates precise tissue penetration with minimal resistance, promoting atraumatic suturing.

Vicryl Rapide elicits a lower tissue inflammatory response compared to chromic gut sutures, reducing postoperative discomfort and promoting faster healing. Its rapid absorption profile allows complete suture breakdown within approximately 42 days, making it suitable for superficial soft tissue closures that require short-term wound support.

Coated VICRYL RAPIDE (polyglactin 910) suture is a synthetic absorbable sterile surgical suture composed of a copolymer made from 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. Although this suture is a synthetic absorbable suture, its performance characteristics are intended to model the performance of collagen (surgical gut) suture. Coated VICRYL RAPIDE synthetic absorbable suture is indicated only for use in superficial soft tissue approximation of the skin and mucosa, where only short term wound support (7-10 days) is required. Coated VICRYL RAPIDE suture is not intended for use in ligation, ophthalmic, cardiovascular or neurological procedures.
