Violet Coated Vicryl 9-0 BV100-3 5" Suture is a sterile, synthetic absorbable surgical suture made from polyglactin 910, a copolymer of glycolide and lactide. It is coated with a combination of polyglactin 370 and calcium stearate to enhance smooth tissue passage and improve handling characteristics. 

This suture includes a BV100-3 taper point needle, designed to penetrate soft tissue with minimal trauma. Its fine gauge and atraumatic tip make it suitable for microsurgical and ophthalmic applications. The structure of the suture is braided, contributing to improved knot security and ease of handling during surgery.

Violet Coated Vicryl 9-0 retains approximately 50% of its original tensile strength after three weeks. This performance characteristic aligns with the healing time of soft tissues where temporary wound support is sufficient. Its flexibility and predictable strength degradation enhance its reliability across various surgical disciplines.
